Professor Tim McGloughlin, is a Director of TMcGloughlin RanD (a consultancy company in Medical Technology) and is Emeritus Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Limerick. He also serves as Chair of the Advisory Board to the Healthcare Engineering Innovation Centre at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He previously founded a medical device company, Frontline Medical at the University of Limerick. It was the first medical device company to be spun out of the University of Limerick in 1999. The company attained CE and FDA approval for its devices which were manufactured at Harmac Medical in Ireland and sales were achieved in UK, Ireland, Netherlands and Austria. He continues to work with companies to develop international markets. He has a deep knowledge of the UAE and the cultural challenges associated with bringing products to market in the UAE and MENA region and has a very strong contact network in the UAE.
He previously served as Professor and Head of Department of Biomedical Engineering at Khalifa University and at the University of Limerick.
