A Cyber Security expert with over 22 years industry experience Terry has spent the last nine years working as Technical Information Security Officer within a leading global Insurance company. This has required heavy participation in Group international projects while considering various local and regional legal and regulatory requirements. Holding significant experience in Information Security governance, International standards and best practices, cyber risk management, Security architecture design & implementation, penetration testing and incident response, he also manages a team of Security specialists as part of his current role.
Terry has previous start-up experience having founded a company after identifying a market for secure messaging and distributed document workflow systems for the financial services sector. He designed and managed development of products including a multi-tiered, cryptography backed architecture and cloud based middleware platform. The flagship product was a distributed document workflow automation solution using leveraging cloud based public key cryptography and digital signatures to extend internal workflows to customer communities. MessageMate, was an Enterprise Instant Messaging (IM) Service with end-to-end security. The company also provided technical and security consulting services to an international customer base. Responsible for administrative, financial, technical, sales and marketing activities Terry managed relationships with partners, contractors and suppliers in the delivery of solutions. The company graduated from the DIT Hothouse Program, was supported by Enterprise Ireland & South Dublin County Enterprise Board and won multiple business awards.
Prior to establishing his own business Terry spent almost 10 years as a commercial IT systems architect and development lead. Various engagements during this period spanned local medium to large enterprise, universities, international banks and governments for Defense, Transport and national ID schemes. Specific areas of technical expertise include Systems Design & Development, Internet technologies, Identity & Access Management, Networking, Cryptography, Smart Card Technologies and Security Control frameworks. Qualifications held include B.Sc. Business Information Systems, Diploma in Advanced Computer Programming and a Diploma in New Business Development. Security certifications held include CISSP-ISSAP, CISM, CISA, GCIH.
