Brian is an experienced Non-Executive Director and Chairman with over 30+ years senior executive experience in international finance including as Managing Director and Board Director in Citibank Europe plc and currently as Chairman of Bank of Montreal Europe plc. He has held a wide range of senior executive roles in client and product management, as treasury and capital markets head, as senior corporate finance officer, as innovation head and as head of a transaction services business. He was also founding member of Citibank’s First Innovation Lab.
Brian also has non-executive directorship experience in a variety of non-banking boards including chairing a payments technology company, chairing a governance risk and compliance technology centre, chairing a data science company and chairing a property investment company. He was also former Chair and Trustee of the DCU Educational Trust board supporting the funding of DCU for 10 years.
He was a part-time lecturer on the M. Sc in Investment and Treasury programme at DCU and was recipient of the DCU Alumni of the Year alumni award in 2010. He was appointed by the Minister for Industry and Commerce to join the Irish Government’s Research Prioritization Steering Group to shape the advancement of innovation investment in Ireland and chaired the technology and social media committee.
He works in an advisory capacity with a variety of companies and organisations both in Ireland and internationally supporting business strategy, growth, sales and marketing and innovation development.
